(to Complete 5Ks or Longer in 2013 in DC and all 50 States)
Texas, Dallas: Monday, December 23, 7 p.m.
The Jingle Bell Run 5K at the Anatole Hotel
A race initially set up almost two years ago against Mr. Chicago (Gregg Fleisher). See the next post for the history.
My son Stewart joins Gregg and me for the 5K.
Ready to run...
24 minutes and 52 seconds later at the finish...
The last of all 50 states run in 2013. (Washington DC too)
The results...
But...
2nd place to Mr. Gregg, who although 12 years younger, but almost 60 pounds heavier, ran a magnificent 41 seconds faster.
Gregg encouraged me to start running almost 5 years ago and has mentored me ever since. This has led to a spectacular journey for Jeannie and me to all corners of the USA with tons of wonderful, memorable experiences.
But regarding the culminating race against Mr Gregg...
The Master beats the student.
But elder son Stewart was the fastest with a super time of 22:17. He had time for a beer before I finished. Very proud of him.
The Jingle Bell Run was one of the best organized races. The Christmas setting at the Anatole Hotel was splendid. Parking was easy, the course was policed well, the results were posted quickly, and the after party had great food and refreshments.
Jeannie and me...
